Message de Charles Dalseid (Minnesota)
I am enclosing some photos of our recent project. Mr. Frank Melby has done the wood work to build us a new tank for water. It has already been painted, and the hoops are being formed. We will then lift it onto the tower and have a nice appearance for the railroad. I have also attached some photographs of the train running 08 Sept 2002.
Some news from here: The very last soldier in our state (Minnesota) from the Great War (1914-18) died this week. He was a friend of my family. He was 103 years old. His name was Harry Burau. He was waiting to go to France in Nov 1918, but the war ended. I had another old friend, Henry Johnson, who died at 103 years of age, in 1998. He had made four voyages to France in 1917-18 on troop ships and hospital ships. When he had shore leave, he toured France. He had a long and pleasant life. Was in very good health until 102. He drove his own car until age 98 years. He was very interested in 'young people' like me (in my 50's). He liked our Decauville railroad.
